1) What do we learn about the narrator's mother in the opening of the novel?
The narrators mother has died, While giving birth. Her mother also looked very weak.
2) Where does the narrator grow up?
The narrator grew up in the fictional town of Manawaka, Manitoba
3) How would you describe Hagar as she explains what she's like at ninety (pp.5-6)
Hagar has been a little displaced since her mother died.Hagar is 90 and has arthrits and gets cranky from time to time.
4) What kind of a relationship did she have with her father?
Hagar likes to think her and her father are nothing alike, but in relatlity they are identical. i also believe that her father may have resented her for not being a boy.
5) Explain what we learn about Mr. Currie and Hagar from the foot ruler incident.
Mr. currie own a store and hagar walked in and was gunna get some raisons and saw something and said it out loud so mr.currie got a little mad and hit her with the ruler, but after apologised because he felt bad. Alough he acts tough, there is a soft hearted man in there somewherebut in reality they are very similar.

The curries are from scotland.
7) What do we learn about Mr. Currie from his involvement with the new church?Mr. currie donated a large amount of money to the church. He wanted to show people that he has a larger income.

How do you explain Mr. Currie's remark "Consumption? That's contagious, isn't
it? Well, the Lord works in wondrous ways His will to perform. "
It was a way of making himself feel better because he got rejected by lotie droiser's mother.
9) Why won't Matt's father allow him to go hunting with Jules Tonnerre?
Out of racism.
10) How does Dan die and what do we learn about Hagar by her refusal to put on the old plaid shawl and comfort Dan?
Dan dies by pnemonia. we learn that hagar may have had hatred for her brother.
11) What is Lottie able to do that Hagar is not, in the town dump?
Lottie is able to kill chicks in the dump to put them out of thier misery.

Her present,past the brother, her present marvin and doris.
